Radiant Heaters - SAVE UP TO 70% IN HEATING COST
With information and data on the building's size, height and layout, it is possible to specify the appropriate number and type of radiant heaters. At this stage considerable thought is given to ensuring a uniform coverage of radiant heat by considering heater spacing and mounting angles. Careful design eliminates energy waste by ensuring that heat is irected to where it is needed.
Figures (1) and (2) show the calculated energy savings gained using radiant heat in a typical blocked walled building 140 ft. long by 60 ft. wide, with a wood deck roof 16 ft. high. The upper thin (blue) line indicates the energy input required to maintain a desired internal temperature of 68o F, with an external temperature of 0o F, using warm air heating. The lower thick (red) line shows the equivalent radiant energy input to maintain the same comfort temperature. The area between these line3s represent the energy saved, highlighting how higher air changes rates increase the advantage of radiant heating over warm air. These heat losses have been calculated by computer in accordance with the ASHRAE Systems Handbook, and show that with an air-change rate of 2.5 time per hour, radiant heat saves 104,256 BTU or 47%.
